     Painter Eric Bourdon is taking part in the 2024 Salon of the French School, in Versailles. This 109th edition of the Salon of the French School (Salon de l’École Française) will be held from Tuesday 10 to Sunday 15 December at the “Carré à la Farine”, from 11am to 6pm, Place du Marché Notre-Dame, 70 bis rue de la Paroisse, a few streets from the Château… [ See on OpenStreetMap ].

     The Salon of the French School was founded by the painter Paul Plument de Bailhac in 1903. Its annual exhibition was held from 1904 in Paris throughout the 20th century, then in Versailles since 2019.

     The Salon defended figurative and French art : many were the continuators of the Barbizon painters (landscape painters who were precursors of Impressionism) and of high-society portraiture ; monumental art was also well represented. A Eugène Boudin retrospective was organized there in 1908.

     In the 1950s, the Salon opened up to foreign artists and new artistic trends.

     After the Grand Palais, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Luxembourg Museum, the Royal Rooms of the Madeleine and other places, the association of the French School is holding its Salon in the beautiful “Carré à la Farine” room in Versailles, with a fine selection of contemporary sculptures and paintings, abstract or figurative, “a taste for beauty in mind”.
