IN LILLE, ERIC BOURDON AND ROBERT-HENRI CLAISSE AT SCHÈMES

THE CLASH OF THE GENERATIONS

With a double exhibition featuring Robert-Henri Claisse and Eric Bourdon, it’s something like the clash of the generations that the Lille gallery Schèmes proposes.

At 83 y.o., the first one does not stop exploring Venice and the Cyclades, not hesitating to take again outlines of paintings of 20 years ago. “ Although I began in abstraction, I return today to figuration, construction, perspective ” explains the painter who worked with Jean Dubuffet. “ While growing old, I return to more luminous tonalities ”.

The second one is a 23 y.o. young man who launched out in painting four years ago. Whereas he prepares a bachelor's degree in philosophy, he draws on his copies at the university. Very quickly, he finds a tone which allures the boss of the gallery on rue de l’Hôpital-Militaire. Which was not the only one to give him his chance since two Parisian galleries and another in Boston will soon host him. Halfway between surrealism and cartoon, the painting of E. Bourdon is coloured, funny. Filled with Shadoks-like references and comical characters. For Robert-Henri Claisse, “ it’s an other world ”.
