THE CLASH OF GENRES WITH ERIC BOURDON
AND CHIMÈRE AT THE SCHÈMES GALLERY
The light, the colors, the language, everything opposes the two self-taught artists, apart from the passion that stimulates them. A rather unusual meeting with the two Lillois at Didier Dewulf’s.
Eric Bourdon knew he would paint since he was 5 years old. A scientific baccalaureate, a philosophy degree and thirty-six jobs later, he realizes his dream. “When I know something, that doesn't interest me anymore, he explains. With painting, I can evolve inside the frame.” His style ? “Undefinable : it's me !” He performs a spontaneous creation work on the line. The Barbapapa are not so far ! His bright colored improvised characters chatter and renew themselves unceasingly, but there are the key figures : the potato guy and the penguin ! “His canvas are a great success with children,” tells the galerist, who sells a lot of them to the speech therapists and pediatricians for their waiting room. His works have already crossed some borders.
Chimère : a very evocative pseudonym for this painter whose dreamlike and fantastic, or even Gothic universe does not leave anybody indifferent ! It's his first exhibition in a gallery. Fabien Revoy has been devoting himself to his art for twenty years and demonstrates an astonishing mastery. The books, the cinema, the role-playing games feed his inspiration.
